Evan is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Manitoba Law School and the University of Winnipeg.He is the immediate past president of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association of Manitoba and a past co-chair of the Manitoba Bar Association Criminal Justice Sub-Section. He has also served as a member of the Manitoba Provincial Court Liaison Committee; was an original board member of AIDWYC (Manitoba); and sat on the Tariff Review Committee with Legal Aid Manitoba. Evan has also served on a number of committees for the Law Society of Manitoba.

Evan regularly appears before all court levels in Manitoba, and has appeared in courts across Western Canada, in Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He was most recently privileged to serve as one of commission counsel to the Oliphant Inquiry.
