Ms Joncas is the current Chair of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies (CAEFS 2007-2010). She is the past President (2005-2007) of the Quebec Defence Attorneys Association (A.Q.A.A.D.) and was a director of the Montreal Defence Attorneys Association (A.A.D.M.) for several years. Ms Joncas is also on the board of directors of the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence Lawyers (C.C.C.D.L). She has been involved in many Quebec Bar Committees and also teaches Criminal Advocacy at the Bar Admission course. She was the President of the Haute-Yamaska Suicide Prevention Centre and has lectured at several conferences in Canada and abroad in the criminal and mental health fields: International Academy of Law and Mental Health (Lisbon-1993); Canadian Psychiatric Association (Winnipeg-1993); World Congress on Medical Law (Jerusalem 1994); Société des médecins experts du Québec (Montreal-1995); Quebec Bar Convention (2001-2002-2007); National Judicial Institute (Vancouver-2002); Provincial Judges Regional Training Program (Québec and Chicoutimi-2005) (Montréal-2007); Congrès international francophone sur les agressions sexuelles (Gatineau-2005), Criminal Lawyers Association (Toronto-2006 and 2008), National Criminal Law Program (Edmonton-2007) (Charlottetown-2008) (Victoria-2009); First Annual Symposium on HIV, Law & Human Rights (Toronto-2009). She has represented the Quebec Bar before the Permanent Justice Committee and the Senate Permanent Committee on Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Quebec Defence Attorneys Association and CAEFS before the Federal Committee on Institutions.
Ms Joncas has appeared before all levels of Court in Quebec and Ontario and also the Supreme Court of Canada (R. c. Kouri and as amicus curiae in R. c. Lavigne).
